I guess they think torrenting is some super complex hacker type thing, so they're intimidated and are mad that we get stuff for free they chose to pay for. And its coming from people who grew up with napster and limewire, and probably pirated all the music they have from the 2000's and earlier. It baffles me that this is the popular opinion on reddit. A majority of the time that people mention pirating, at best they get downvoted, and at worst they get moral arguments thrown at them. As an example, r/starwars will delete your comments regarding pirating and ban you immediately. Any fan will tell you that you're a piece of shit for not supporting the show, and casuals will just tell you that its unethical. Especially if you are on a TV show/movie's fan subreddit. For some reason there is a seriousssss stigma regarding pirating on reddit.
